The Snowplowing Handbook
Page Updated 9/29/03

    The Revised Edition is complete!

If you are considering offering snow removal services, then you can REALLY benefit from this book.

My Snowplowing Handbook is mainly written to help
those that are new to plowing. Detailed answers to questions that most in the business wouldn't tell you. The main focus is on the basics of operating a snow plowing business, with a focus on the actual work. There are plenty of books out there to help you run a business. This one does not focus on that aspect. Even the seasoned Plow operator can learn from this book. A detailed plowing example with diagrams is included. Internet addresses, postal addresses, and phone numbers of many plow manufacturers, parts suppliers, and industry contacts listed. Checklists that you can copy.
An excerpt of this book, and a sample of my writing style, can be found throughout my web pages. I like details, and have a peeve about terminology. I like to use proper terms, when talking, technically speaking. I tend to go in depth on subjects I'm very familiar with. I've had many compliments on my web sites, and their content.
Perhaps my greatest compliment yet, has been reprint requests from various trade magazines, including The Landscupltor, and Snow Business. I have been interviewed for Pro Magazine for their snow issue. I have authored numerous articles for Snow Business, and have a regularly appearing column in Snow Business. I was a SIMA Certified Snow Professional (CSP), one of the first in fact.
I've operated my own Grounds Maintenance business. I worked for a municipality, in their Recreation Department as a Park Caretaker for three years. I worked for a local Board of Education for five years in the maintenance department. Two of them as their high school groundskeeper on a 12 acre site. I was a member of a labor union for all five of those years. I hold a Black Seal Boiler Operators License. I've seen grounds and property maintenance on a very large scale, and on a very small scale. I've marked athletic fields of all types, and maintained all the equipment I've used over the years. Sometimes as extensive as rebuilding equipment motors and transmissions myself.
